about James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes was born to George and Winnifred Barnes in March of 1925. Orphaned at twelve, he spent his adolescent years at the army base known as Camp Lehigh, where he functioned as the camp's kid brother (mascot, if you will) and pint-sized con man, smuggling cigarettes and girly magazines onto base for the soldiers. It came out pretty quickly that he was a damned fine fighter, and so he was shipped off to England for two months of intensive special training - the sole purpose of which was to prepare him to be the partner of the United States' new symbol, Captain America.

The rest, as they say, is history.
